Project 52:32 Pipeline

Our weekend outing consisted of visiting the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. The pipeline routes through the northern part of Fairbanks.

The Alaska Pipeline transfers about 1.4 million barrels of oil from
Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, Alaska

A look at the inside of the pipeline.

A hot topic issue in Alaska is natural gas.  In the 70's natural gas was found near Prudhoe Bay.   Since then, politicians, businesses, and environmentalists alike have debated over the best way to access the natural gas supply.  One option is to build a new pipeline that pipes the natural gas through Canada.  Many are against this option because it gives Canada the right to tax the oil that is transferred through their land, cutting into profits.

I learned so much about the Alaskan pipeline from this blog post. One of the pictures caught my attention, the one of Nathan holding Penn. Penn looks so much like Sammy in this picture.
