Stop #2: Rockbridge, VA

The next stop on our trip was Young Life's Rockbridge Camp to see JB and Bethany.  JB was on the team that was in charge of camp program which is code for making sure the kids have the best week of their lives.  He organized skits, theme dinners, and tournaments, to name a few, not to mention a lot of other behind the scene stuff.  Bethany "the jack of all trades" was helping around camp wherever she was needed: cooking, cleaning, party planning.  It was great for us to see a small glimpse of how they are both impacting the lives of teenagers in big and small ways.  If you're interested in finding out more about YL camp, check out JB and Bethany's blog.  She does a great job of taking you through a week of what a day at camp is really like.

At Rockbridge we were able to experience all of the great parts of being at Young Life camp, the pool, snack shop, meals, clubs, skits.  However, my favorite part of Young Life camp is the last club.  All week at club the kids have been hearing about the amazing life they can have by knowing Christ.  At the end of the week, before the kids leave to go home, they have one final club.

They call the final club, the Say So.  It comes from Psalms 107,  where it says "Let the redeemed in the Lord, Say so".   It gives kids the chance to stand up and do just that...Say that they've made a decision to change their lives.  It's a very powerful moment to end the week.  We were able to see almost 60 kids stand up and say that they had started a relationship with Christ.  God is so amazing and I was thankful to be apart of that moment.
(The picture below is a group of kids standing at the Say So).

Lauren,
You have captured our time together at YL both in words and in film perfectly. It was a blessing seeing JB and Bethany work together as husband and wife, Bethany encouraging JB and JB loving Bethany.
Thanks for taking the pics of playing ping pong...love that game! I hope Nathan appreciated the picture of me protecting Sammy's ears! (please send me that pic)...
I wish we had taken a picture of you at Dulles with the car seat? strapped to your back!

If anyone is intersted in Young Life let us know!
Love
Mom
